The Ramboll Foundation backs global timber construction initiative with €100,000 grant
The Ramboll Foundation, enterprise foundation and owner of the Ramboll Group, has allocated funds and resources to support the implementation of the Principles for Responsible Timber Construction.
The Foundation has committed €100,000 to Built by Nature – a not-for-profit organisation with a mission to lead a global transformation of the built environment by accelerating the responsible use of timber and biobased materials – in order to accelerate the development and rollout of the Implementation Framework, a practical guide to help industry stakeholders apply the Principles in real-world projects.
The Principles for Responsible Timber Construction establish a common language and global framework to ensure that increased demand for wood is managed responsibly. They maximise benefits for climate, nature, and people, while supporting forests, transforming the built environment, and enabling thriving bioeconomies.
The Implementation Framework, which will be showcased to industry at the Woodrise International Congress in Vancouver next week, will be part of the formal launch of the Principles at COP30 in November.
The Ramboll Foundation’s support will enable a series of expert workshops, technical reviews, and pilot projects that will ensure the Framework is both ambitious and grounded in practical application. The Ramboll Group's global expertise in whole-life carbon assessment, circular design, and regenerative strategies will play a key role in shaping the Framework’s guidance.
We are delighted to welcome the Ramboll Foundation as a contributor in this critical phase of our work. Their support will help us turn the Principles for Responsible Timber Construction into action, providing the tools and guidance needed to scale up responsible timber construction globally. We’re also pleased that the Ramboll Group has now formally endorsed these Principles, joining a growing movement of frontrunners committed to transforming the built environment.
The Foundation is proud to support Built by Nature’s mission to decarbonise the built environment through responsible timber construction and its viable and practical implementation. This important initiative reflects well our commitment to advancing sustainable solutions that are both scientifically robust and socially inclusive.
