The Ramboll Foundation funds new alliance upskilling Ukrainians to a new energy system

A newly established alliance, REE-Skill Ukraine, brings together Ukrainian and Danish companies, experts and organisations within the energy sector and the green transition around a common goal: supporting Ukraine’s reconstruction where the need is greatest and where they themselves have the most to contribute – energy.

Our funding will support two focus areas: (1) short-term re-skilling of displaced and unemployed workers within construction and especially energy efficiency and (2) strategic workforce development for a decentralised renewable energy system via market assessment, competency mapping, curriculum design, and training of trainers. Activities include partnerships with companies, unions, and educational institutions, pilot training, evaluation, and upscaling.

The ambition of the REE-Skill Ukraine project is to ensure that the Ukrainian workforce develops the skills needed for immediate reconstruction and the long-term creation of a sustainable, resilient energy system.

The alliance works from a holistic perspective focusing on:

  • Local partnerships with institutions and energy companies in Ukraine
  • Targeted training programmes in cooperation with trade organisations and technical schools
  • Long-term advisory support on how to build a green and resilient energy system

The REE-Skill Ukraine initiative empowers Ukrainians with the skills and knowledge to restore and renew their energy systems. Our mission is not just to help recover but to rebuild for the regeneration of nature and society. We want to assist by fostering local expertise for a sustainable, resilient, and self-sufficient future.

With this project, we can support the rapid deployment of skilled workers, strengthened vocational training and employment capacity, inclusion of women, veterans, and elderly, and sustainable and resilient growth of Ukraine’s renewable energy sector.

Experts from Ramboll will contribute to the project with needed competences and expertise.

Ramboll is pleased to contribute supporting the Ukrainian population with the necessary capabilities to secure and expand the renewable energy supply within an energy system increasingly based on decentralised energy solutions, and secure ongoing reconstruction and energy efficiency efforts in the Ukrainian building mass.
