The Ramboll Foundation is an independent Danish enterprise foundation with philanthropic obligations.
People and philanthrophy
Rambøll Fonden (herafter called Ramboll Foundation) was established in 1972 by the founders of Ramboll. Børge Johannes Rambøll and Johan Georg Hannemann and three other partners. It was their wish to ensure long-term existence of the company for the benefit of the Ramboll Group employees.
According to the Ramboll Foundation’s Charter, the purpose of the Foundation is to own and support Ramboll Group A/S and to ensure the financial and commercial continuance and development of Ramboll Group A/S and its affiliated companies or associates in such a way that as many employees as possible can experience an exciting and inspiring workplace in a long-term perspective.
The Foundation awards donations for:
- Research and education, in particular within science and engineering
- In addition the Foundation aims to help current and former employees and their families in difficult circumstances
- The Foundation also supports charities and humanitarian aid.

When Ramboll was founded in 1945 Børge Johannes Rambøll and Johan Georg Hannemann had a clear vision for how a responsible company should act. It was their true wish to ensure a long term existence of the company for the benefit of the Ramboll employees and the society around.

The Ramboll Foundation donates 1 million DKK to humanitarian aid efforts
On the last board meeting of 2023, the Ramboll Foundation decided to donate 1 million DKK in total to humanitarian aid efforts by UNHCR and Doctors Without Borders in areas of current conflict and humanitarian crises.

Bridging the gap between biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation
Biologist and Senior Research Associate, Leonardo De Sousa Miranda, of Lancaster Environment Centre, Lancaster University, is the winner of the 2023 Ramboll Foundation Award and a prize of EUR 67,000 to support his research in assessing climate and land-use change impacts and identifying priority areas for biodiversity conservation and habitat restoration in the Amazon.
